Description
This film (a short of twenty-six minutes, super 16mm, color, blown up to #35 mm) on the work of American artist James TURRELL entitled “Passageways” James TURRELL was written and directed by Carine ASSCHER in 1990-1991 and coproduced by Carine ASSCHER represented by C.A. PRODUCTIONS and Centre POMPIDOU (Paris, France) in 1995 with the participation of James Turrell and the backing of the Plastic Arts Delegation – Paris in 1995.
The preliminary interviews with James TURRELL, Gene SEKAQUAPTEWA Hopi Chief of the Eagles Clan in addition to the shooting of the aerial images took place in October 1991 in Flagstaff, and in the “Painted Desert” Arizona. The filming of the SKYSPACE work entitled “SECOND MEETING” took place in 1994 in Los Angeles, USA at a private collection. (The WEINSTEIN family)
THE DVD ISSUE
In 2006, the Centre POMPIDOU (Paris France) issued, published and distributed 6000 NTSC & PAL DVD’s copies with English/French subtitles. By an agreement dated December 2015, C.A. Productions (who holds the entire copyrights to the film without reservations or exceptions and has the right to exploit the film throughout the world in all formats & medias,) bought the remaining DVDs stock from Centre Pompidou. The Centre Pompidou does not hold any copyrights to the film since 2005 but holds a positive 35mm copy material of the film (archived in the Kandinsky Library located in Centre Pompidou, Paris, France) .
Since then, C.A. Productions has reissued 3000 DVD’s copies distributed by Buchhandlung Walther Koenig en Europe.
